My first Olympic weightlifting competition: the “WeLift Lift Off” 🏋🏼‍♀️ When I walked in I immediately felt super excited to see so many familiar faces and I felt the energy of the crowd. My client came in excited and happy and all of a sudden bursted out in tears during the workout. She crossed her boundaries big time.

She told me these thoughts popped up:

- “I have to push through. Otherwise I’m a loser.”
- “Don’t show your emotions. It makes you look weak.”
- “Don’t tell Dymphy.”

But she was able to recognize these as limiting thoughts. 
She took the courage to act different: checking in with her body, feeling and saying what she needed. This was a big step! 

She told me what happened. “I feel like I’m quitting”. 

We took a few deep breaths. And continued the workout, but adjusted the exercises and intensity.

The purpose was to experience that she could 1 step back and 2 forward.

This of course doesn’t just happen during a workout, but also in the rest of her life. Pushing through work and not listening to signs the body is giving. She left the gym happy again, because it was a new insight that she could immediately incorporate into her daily life.

5 ways to improve your mindset when dealing with feelings of depression & insecurity.

1️⃣ Movement: releases the happiness hormones dopamines & endorphins. Increases blood flow. Energy is created by movement: walking, biking & lifting weights.

2️⃣ Posture: standing in a power stance for 2 min decreases the stress hormone cortisol with about 20% and increases testosterone with about 20%. You immediately feel stronger!

3️⃣ Awareness of limiting believes like “I can’t do this because I’m too young/old/fat/unexperienced” and training your brain into helpful believes, called affirmations: 
- “I have great coping skills.”
- “I can make mistakes.”
- “I’m enough.”
- “I’m loved.”

4️⃣Purpose: do something to feel like you add something to the world. A reason for you to get out of bed in the morning. Like helping someone else, voluntary work, a meaningful job.

5️⃣ Social: You might feel alone. But you’re not. Have the courage to let people in and be vulnerable. You might notice it isn’t as scary as you expect.

Now let’s check-in with yourself. Grade yourself from a scale from 1-10 on all 5 ways. How do you score? And do this for a second round: which grade would you like to experience?

Fit as fuck at 50! 💪🎈🎉 My client @annodrenth has been training with me since 2017. Over the years I’ve seen him grow both physically and mentally.

Anno has developed a lifestyle in which he walks 10.000+ steps a day, trains 5-6 days a week and nourishes his body with nutritious food. And he still enjoys a good glass of wine every now and then!

He went from:
- a single Chin up to 4 sets of 7 reps
- limited shoulder mobility, like not being able to hold a barbell in a front rack position, to Front Squatting 70kg
- a Hip thrust from 40 to 110kg
- And 37 Push ups in full range of motion, meaning chest to the floor! 

And even when Anno is on holiday or can’t make it to the gym, he always does his Push ups and core work! 🤩 

He holds space for his physical fitness, but also reflects on his mindset and is actively practicing setting boundaries and chosing what’s most important to him, instead of pleasing others.

Anno’s consisted effort and fun in the process has a ripple effect on my other clients and people in his inner circle as he challenges them to exercise more as well!

Anno, I’m so proud of your progress! You’re a true example of being fit as fuck! 🤩
